To use the abba Superbike stand or abba Sky Lift on the 2016-On Honda CB500F, 2019-On Honda CB500X, CBR500R & CB500 Hornet models, two plastic frame covers need to be replaced to use the product correctly. This is a simple task that only has to be done once but please read fully below to understand the procedure before purchasing any abba product for this bike.
What is the issue?
The swing arm pivot (where our products connect to the bike) is not accessible on this bike as Honda have now covered the pivot bolt recesses with a plastic trim cover (this was not the case on the pre 2016 models)
Removing this cover every time you want to use your abba lift or stand would be very inconvenient as it is partly held in place by the foot rest hanger bolts, meaning the foot rests would need to be removed to release the cover every time.
The picture (right) shows the standard cover fitted to the CB500F/X & CBR500R, however the covers are the same for all the above listed models.
The Solution:
When you purchase the Sky Lift, Superbike stand or just the fitting kit for this bike you will receive the necessary abba fittings to adapt your stand to fit this bike along with two genuine Honda modified side covers.
The two covers we supply are genuine parts purchased from Honda, we then make a simple and clean modification to remove the embellishment which restricts access to the swing arm pivot.

Fitting the supplied modified covers:
Removing your bikes standard covers and replacing them with the modified versions is a simple task that will only take around 15 mins to complete, remember you only have to do this once! If at any point you wish to return the bike back to complete standard (maybe to sell the bike) your original covers can easily be re fitted.
To remove either side panel simply loosen the two 8mm hex bolts and pop the cover out. Replace with the supplied modified cover, push into position, re fit and tighten the two 8mm hex bolts.

Once the modified covers have been fitted the Superbike stand or Sky Lift can be fitted in the normal way. (refer to product video and instructions for more information on this).
